Yes I Can

2

Poetry about Confidence and Insecurity.

If I were to be completely honest,
I’ve never been the most confident guy.
I’ve woken up every day
with a fear of succeeding in life.

Fear of failure and insecurity,
Enough to make you roll up in a ball.
When your a kid, you don’t have to worry.
I wish I didn’t have to worry at all.

Yes, I can. . .
Yes, I can. . .

You can wait your whole life.
Say the words a hundred times.
But when you say it,
and you mean it,
it’s more than just making a rhyme.

My dad never made it,
never made it in life.
Now I’ve started a family;
will I make it for my wife?

Yes, I can. . .
Yes, I can. . .

You can wait your whole life.
Say the words a hundred times.
But when you say it,
and you mean it,
it’s more than just making a rhyme.

With confidence,
Yes, I can.

Poetry about Relationships and Insecurity

When I was still young
you could imprint on me.
Now that I’ve aged
I’m hard as concrete.
Relationships used to bruise easy,
like the road to a knee.
insecure like wet cement
trampled under your feet.
But It said in the past
I should not weak.
The Potter left their signature on me.
and the initials were “J.C.”

A poem about identity.

On my game, I’m a warrior. My blog, a poet.
See me walking down the street, you wouldn’t know it.
In my world, a king.
In the real world, notta’ thing.

Well, that’s not true, I guess.
To some, I’m the best.
A king, or a poet, no.
But to some, a friend they’re happy to know.
