Lost at Sea

3

Trying hard not to find our emotions.
Blowing a numb wind to get us through the motions.
A stranded rowboat swallowed by the oceans.
Too weary to survive through any more anxiety and commotions.

When you’re depended on,
on do you depend?
The struggle of a man,
pulling within.

Neverend.

A poem about anxiety.

Sinking Down

8

I’m staring at the clock.
Time feels like it’s standing still.
I’m sinking down.
Can you feel how I feel?

I’m alone in the dark,
Depressed, is anyone here?
My quiet whimpering
is all that I hear.

Is anyone here?

Poetry about depression.

Thinking

2

Another long night, I’m thinking in my sleep.
The pressure’s closin’ in, feel like it’s suffocating me.
I’ve got problems at work, problems at home.
Problems with my friends, and problems when I’m alone.

I think about cryin’.
I think about breaking down.
I think about reputation.
Being the strongest guy in town.

I think I’ve thought about everything.
But I never think to pray.

I’ve tried eating healthy, but stress has got my stomach on edge.
I used to be so happy, not I feel like the walking dead.
I had a passion for work, now I just wanna get on home.
I feeling so weak, when I used to be so “bad to the bone.”

I think about cryin’.
I think about breaking down.
I think about reputation.
Being the strongest guy in town.

I think I’ve thought about everything.
But I never think to pray.

Forget about the Spring

12

Do you remember the pain I felt.
When my heart sunk and fell right out.
My soul hasn’t recovered, no, not all the way.
It stills drags me down a little every day.

But now the snow is fallin’,
the air smells different,
The seasons are changing and I’m
catching that inference.

The good thing about the snow is
I forget about the spring.

There was a time when things were good.
There was a time when things are bad.
It’s so easy to slip from the top.
But from rock bottom, it’s so hard to climb back.

But now the snow is fallin’,
the air smells different,
The seasons are changing and I’m
catching that inference.

It’s feelin’ like Christmas,
I remember what matters.
This shell I’ve been living in
breaks, I’m just watchin’ it shatter.

The good thing about the snow is
I forget about the spring.

The good thing about the snow is,
well that might be the only thing.

Sometimes you need the Sludge to budge.

5 Tips to Overcome Stress

12
  1. Just hit a pillow, see how you feel. This is from the great Dr. Ben Sobel, a.k.a. Ben Sobellioni, Sammy the Schnozz, Elmer the Fudd, Tubby the Tuba.
  2. Don’t think about it. When I’m getting stressed, I just don’t think about it.
  3. Eat. Who doesn’t feel better after eating?
  4. Think about something else that’s stressful. It’s like anxiety hot potato. Soon, you forget what you’re even worried about, problem solved!
  5. Wherever you are, just stop, and shout as loud and as long as you can in one breathe.

DJs

5

Thoughts are dancing
in my head
all throughout the day.
The only way to make it through
is choose what song I play.
Make it happy, make it sad,
make it good or bad.
I’m the DJ of my emotions.
Today I’ll play something glad.

Your thoughts may be Dancing, but you are the DJ.

Today I took a depression and anxiety test on my health website. It’s just a questionnaire really. But I scored to have mild issue with both depression and anxiety. Is that normal? I always felt I had it a little bit… a lot more when I was in high school. I never know what to do with it. I feel like if I ever got counseling for it, it would be as if I was then diagnosed with depression or anxiety. And I don’t really want that label on my life. Just some scattered thoughts for the day in my journal. But, hey, I suppose all these feelings are what makes me a good writer!
