Horizons

A poem about seeing my wife after a hard day.

The long, dark drive home.
Thoughts racing through my mind.
Another sun has set.
I’m feeling shackled by time.

But I step through the door
and I see your face.
And whatever happened today,
you voice washes away.

I’ve been aching since the sun first rose.
I haven’t eaten a good meal.
I’m feeling like I’ve been run over
with not enough time to heal.

But I step through the door
and I see your face.
And whatever happened today,
you voice washes away.
Sometimes I don’t stop to realize
just how much I need you.
If I haven’t said it lately, baby,
I do.
I love you. . .
